What the product is
The main Frenchies product is a U-shaped French hair pin with a soft velvet coating. It comes in large and small sizes and in different shades: grey, black, blonde, brown and red.
Here's how we describe the hold on our About page: “The velvet-soft finish grips hair through micro-friction instead of tension — meaning the pin stays exactly where you put it, without squeezing, scratching, or slipping.”
The rest of the range:
- ProPack: larger multi-pin packs made with professional hairstylists in mind.
- Hairsticks: minimalist sticks for buns and updos.
- Scrunchies: velvet and silk scrunchies in a range of colors and sizes.
- Charms: decorative charms that can be added to Frenchies hairpins.
Who uses them
We make Frenchies for anyone whose pins slip or press: women with fine, thick or long hair; dancers who need a bun to stay put in class and on stage; gymnasts, figure skaters, athletes, brides; and professional hairstylists.
Where the brand began
Two friends, Elena Nikitina Bick and Elena Talan, started Frenchies Inc. in Los Angeles in 2018. We both came to it from acting, modeling and dance. As our About page puts it: “Frenchies as a brand was born on a movie set in Hollywood.” We invented the velvet-flocked hairpin, a patented invention: a classic U-shaped French pin with a flocked fiber coating, developed with a specialty textile manufacturer.
Where Frenchies has been written about
Stylists and editors have mentioned Frenchies in British Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar UK, Stylist, The Tease, Top Hair (Germany), Bibi Bridal, Kérastase Artists and more, and professional ballet dancers have shared them in their own posts. You'll find a few highlighted quotes, with a link to the original, on our press page.
We're proud to be Award-Winning Hairpins at Lux Life Magazine.
